This template helps you prepare an SMS campaign application that meets The Campaign Registry (TCR) requirements. Work through each section, then submit the application in your Textr Team account at Settings > Register SMS Campaign > Local Numbers > Campaign Registration. Your brand must be verified before you can register a campaign.
One important fact before you start: TCR itself does not review, approve, or reject campaigns. Your application is reviewed by upstream connection partners and mobile carriers. A clear and complete application is the best way to avoid rejection.
Note: This template is a reference only and does not guarantee approval. Fill in all brand-related information as instructed, and adjust the content to your specific use case and compliance requirements. Textr Team is not responsible for the rejection of applications submitted using this template.
1. Brand Information
Provide a clear and accurate overview of your brand: official legal name, website, and customer support contact details. Keep all information consistent across your website, social media pages, and TCR application.
Official requirements that affect verification:
- Your legal company name, EIN/Tax ID, and address must match your official business registration exactly. For US companies, check your IRS EIN confirmation letter (SS-4). For Canadian companies, enter the first 9 digits of your Canadian Business Number (BN), your Corporation/Incorporation Number, or your Registry ID.
- Public companies must provide a business contact email (like name@yourbrand.com). Free email domains (such as gmail.com or outlook.com) and list addresses (such as sales@ or marketing@) are not accepted. This email receives a verification (2FA) email, and the brand cannot create campaigns until verification is complete.
- A website or online presence is strongly recommended. It can be your company site, a Facebook page, or an ecommerce store page.
2. Campaign Description
TCR official guidance: the campaign description should be a clear and detailed outline of exactly what the campaign will be used for. Everyone in the message chain reads this field, and lack of clarity can result in rejection.
Provide a clear and detailed explanation of why the campaign is being run. Include who the messages will be sent to, what information they will receive, and why it is beneficial.
For your reference: "This campaign is designed to provide customers with exclusive promotional offers, order updates, and important notifications. Messages will only be sent to customers who have explicitly opted in through our website or in-store registration process."
3. Opt-In Process and Message Flow
3.1 Opt-In Mechanism (How Users Subscribe)
Describe how customers opt into receiving SMS messages. Provide specific details such as website forms, keyword-based sign-ups, or checkbox agreements.
For your reference: "Users opt in by entering their phone number on our website and checking the agreement box stating: 'I agree to receive promotional messages from [Brand Name] via SMS. Reply STOP to opt out.' Users will receive a confirmation message immediately after opting in."
3.2 Opt-In Confirmation Message (First Message Users Receive)
Example:
Welcome to [Brand Name] SMS alerts! Get exclusive updates & offers. Msg freq varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.
4. Sample Messages (Required SMS Content)
Sample messages show carriers exactly what your customers will receive. Three rules apply:
- Sample messages must be written in English. Non-English samples will cause your registration to fail.
- Provide at least one sample. We recommend adding samples that cover each main message type you plan to send, such as welcome, promotional, and notification messages.
- Samples must match your selected use case and reflect what customers will actually receive.
4.1 Help Message
Example:
For support, contact [Brand Name] at [support email] or visit [website URL]. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.
4.2 Stop Message
Example:
You have opted out of [Brand Name] SMS alerts. No more messages will be sent. For support, contact [support email] or visit [website URL].
4.3 Marketing or Notification Message
Example:
Limited-time offer! Get 20% off your next purchase at [Brand Name]. Use code SAVE20 at checkout. Visit [website URL]. Reply STOP to opt out.
